John Krasinski’s children think he works as an accountant in an office, thanks to “The Office.”

“So what’s the matter with this office thing?” Krasinski said one of his sons recently asked.
John Krasinski’s children think he works as an accountant in an office thanks to his role on ‘The Office’.
Krasinski told Stephen Colbert in an appearance on “The Late Show” that he recently showed his six- and eight-year-old daughters the pilot episode of the hit sitcom “The Office.”
Krasinski recalled a recent memory where one of his sons asked him, “so what’s the matter with this office thing?” from the backseat of his car.
He said his wife, Emily Blunt, encouraged him to show the kids the first episode of the show.
While watching, Krasinski said, his oldest spoke on the TV, asking Steve Carell’s character Michael Scott, “what are you doing?” after firing Jenna Fischer’s character Pam Beesly. Then she said, “You’re a horrible person,” Krasinski recalled.
While his eight-year-old daughter Hazel entered the show, Krasinski’s six-year-old daughter Violet didn’t believe he was playing Jim Halpert, an employee of the fictional Dunder Mifflin Paper Company.
“My six-year-old kept asking me, ‘is that you?’ and I said, ‘yeah, it is,'” Krasinski told Colbert. “And she said, ‘You look very different.'”
Krasinski insisted it was him on the show and he was “just playing a character,” but his daughter wasn’t going to buy it.
She said she “watched two more episodes going, ‘that’s not you. The guy looks a lot like you, though.'”
But now, Krasinski said, because “they don’t know what I do,” they think I actually work as an accountant in an office.
“The reason why I think one day I was walking them to school, and this guy came up and said, ‘John! From ‘The Office!’ Oh my God, it’s so good to see you,'” Krasinski said.
“And we kept walking, and she was like, ‘So, do you work with him?'” Krasinski said her daughter asked at the time. “And I said, ‘no,’ and she said, ‘Why are you lying to me?'”
Krasinski said she took it further, saying, “no, she just said she knows you from ‘The Office.'”
He said his children know what his wife, Blunt, does for a living because “she had an edge being in ‘Mary Poppins,'” Krasinski said.
“And I think my kids thought he married me for charity,” Krasinski admitted. “I’m like, ‘You’re kind enough to marry an accountant. That’s so nice of you.'”
